Screen too small for a mobile radio. Everything else except the manual is excellent!

Have it hooked up! An works great! I have not talked on it! For I am waiting on my license to operate!! I did not know you had to get a license for this radio an a hi end portable radio to! Note!!!!! You must have a license its 70 dollars for 10 years an covers your emptied family under the same license!! But first you have to get you I'd cold! Just go to the FCC on line an put in Gmrs an go from there!!! Its worth doing it right! If you get pull over you well be ask to se a license!!!!!

UPDATE: The replacement radio is working! I'm not sure what was wrong with the old one but the new one is able to hit the repeater without problems. I suspect there was some frequency deviation when transmitting. Because of this I have changed this to 4 starts. I deducted a star only because two small issues and the fact the first radio was not working as expected. Other than these points, the radio is great and offers a tremendous amount of flexibility and sounds good (according to people receiving me).First, the volume knob rubs with the microphone connectors plastic sleeve. I had to cut away the sleeve for it to not interfere with managing volume control.Second, the output on the back of the radio has some noise in it when I increase the volume beyond 15-20%. Thankfully I have a way to amplify the volume after the radio so I can leave it around 15% without noise.ORIGINAL REVIEW:This radio was great until I attempted to access a local repeater on 550. I have factory reset the radio and have been working with support to troubleshoot but still no solution. I may have a defective unit but I’ve lost confidence in the software running this radio. For whatever reason, I can Tx and Rx on the correct frequency according to the display but my Tx does not make it to the repeater with the PL tone set. My MXT400 makes it no problem and I hear the courtesy tone as expected. I have checked the SWR and power levels and they all are looking good but still not able to Tx... I’m at a loss. I’ve asked for a replacement and will see if that resolves the problems. If it does I will update my review.

I bought this radio to use with Btech handheld GMRS units and it does so very well when paired with an NMO antenna. The range is fantastic and it does everything it says it will.My only reservations are that the screen is a little small for my eyes (not the manufacturer or seller's fault) and my signal meter does not show that it is reaching its rated output. However, I have a cheap signal meter and the transmit power I am seeing is more than adequate for my use and close enough to rated output.You can use this radio right out of the box but to make it sing you need the programming cable and some knowledge of CHIRP.Installation is a breeze. A clean 12v power supply and antenna hookups are all you need, along with a few screws. It comes with a bracket.The speaker is good and loud.My questions to the seller were answered VERY promptly.This radio is a win over more expensive, less powerful competitors.

This radio transceiver comes pre-programmed with GMRS frequencies. The radio has memory to store V/UHF frequencies to use the radio as a scanning receiver and it receives the commercial FM frequencies. This transceiver has good sound quality. It is very easy to operate. It has a small display window and the data is easily read. One draw back to the display is red characters are hard to read in well lit environments. The color of display characters should be easily changed to colors that best suit the user and their surroundings. I'd recommend programming software so the user will be able to add their favorite repeater that more than likely will have a CTCSS code that's not stored in the radio. The software will also make entering the scanned channels easier to program.

I can recieve voice but transmit doesn't seem to function correctly. Tried to set to gmrs walkie freqs and transit low med high w a mobile and base antenna still no voice. Factory reset no different. Got new mic no different. Mic gain no different. Still playing w it but for the money and capabilities it isn't a plug and play system. Has function setting like a ham but are locked out.Just really disappointed so far.

I researched a few GMRS radios and first purchased a BTECH handheld. After determining that I needed more power to transmit a further distance, I bought this radio. After a quick setup, I was up and running in under 20 minutes. My first broadcast I received a reply for 44 miles away! This radio is so feature rich and powerful, I would recommend this radio for anyone wanting a 50 watt radio that is able to access repeaters. I also like the fact that I can monitor 4 channels at one time and the mic gain is a great feature as well. A lot of high end features for the $$.

Fit my needs perfectly. Easy to setup repeater channels and label them. Programmed some public safety channels in so I don't have to have another radio in the truck. Run it on mid power most of the time as it is more than enough to hit a couple repeaters in the area.
