Ikat: The Essential Handbook to Weaving Resist-Dyed Cloth (The Weaver's Studio)

I am an American living in NE Thailand and have had the privilege to learn traditional local ikat skills. This books has a wealth of information and helped to fill in so many holes in my understanding of Ikat. The quality (both info and feel of pages), photos, and organization of this book are phenomenal. I was wanting to create a nativity ikat scene, but I knew I ideally needed to learn warp-ikat (the women here that I have learned from only do weft-ikat). This book taught me how to transfer my knowledge, plan out a warp-ikat design, and accomplish it (see photos). Helpful information about yarn size and setts for each of the projects in the book that can be used to calculate your own projects. Very useful info.I have not gotten up the guts to make my indigo vat yet, but because of this book, I feel empowered to do it one of these days. :)This book is great; really a must-own book if you're learning ikat.

Great pictures and instructions

The design and layout of this book is very appealing. With the information provided, an intermediate weaver could create beautiful textiles with this book.

I LOVE to wrap and tie my yarns with IKAT resists and then dye these yarns in INDIGO! I AM a weaver and I have been weaving and teaching IKAT for about 12 years! This is one of my favorite IKAT books!
