THE JVC HA-FX850s HAVE BEEN DETHROANED. THE NEW EARBUD KING IS THE JVC CLASS-S HA-FW01!
MY DISCLAIMER is that sound preference is inherently subjective. Therefore, what may sound excellent to me, may not necessarily be your cup of tea. As far as background, I prefer a V-shape sound with emphasis on bass and treble. I have also owned a vast array of headphones and earbuds ranging from $20 - $1500.00. I consider myself musical and play the piano by ear.THE REVIEWI have now replaced my prior "go to" high-end JVC HA-FX850 earbuds with the JVC HA-FW01 flagship earbuds. Yes, they cost nearly twice as much as the 850's, but if you're like me, and there is enough noticeable improvement in sound quality (and you have the financial ability to upgrade), I do believe it is worth taking the plunge for the JVC HA-FW01 -- again this is a matter of opinion.JVC HA-FW01 premium flagship earbuds were compared against the very popular and highly-praised JVC HA-FX850. First, the cord in the JVC HA-FW01 is cloth-covered versus rubber in the 850s. I feel that the JVC HA-FW01 are slightly lighter in weight than the 850s, but still have some weight to them. I prefer the appearance of the JVC HA-FW01 since they are black and not a brown wood color (my preference again). You get a nicer leather case with the JVC HA-FW01.As far as sound quality, I believe the JVC HA-FW01 bass is more refined yet still deep with depth. It is more controlled and less "boomy" than the 850s. However, do not misconstrue this to mean that the JVC HA-FW01 does not output significant bass -- it does without issue. The bass was solid and filling, while the treble was crystal clear and clean sounding. The mids were perfect in my opinion. The soundstage was wider than the 850s, and the 850's had a decent soundstage. Compared to the 850s, the 850s soundstage now seems a bit centered. The treble was noticeably more detailed, clean, and clear in the As far as sound quality, I believe the JVC HA-FW01 bass is more refined yet still deep. It is more controlled and less "boomy." The treble was noticeably more detailed, clean, and clear in the JVC HA-FW01. Perhaps the best description of the difference between the JVC HA-FW01 and 850's was the much-improved separation and distinct details between all the instruments playing. I could see where some may think it is bright sounding, but I think it is better described as cleaner sound. When I first fell in love with the 850's (after returning the Shure 846s), I didn't think there could be much improvement from the sound quality. Remember, I compared the sound quality of the 850s close to the level of my Fostex TH900. However, now that I have compared the sound between the 850s and JVC HA-FW01, there is no contest between the two of which one replicates the phenomenal sound quality of my Fostex TH900s. My new, premium earbud headphones are the JVC HA-FW01. When I thought my search was over with the 850s, I humbly stand corrected. The JVC HA-FW01 are strongly recommended for those who don't want to settle for less than the best audio sound. Is the price worth it? Well, if you have the means, I say absolutely. Are they worth the price difference between the 850s? In my opinion, yes. But again, that's your call! I hope this helps!FOR THOSE INTERESTED - below is my prior review of the JVC HA-FX850s:The HA-FX850 has excellent sound with "Wow" factor bass. If you are a basshead, you will thoroughly enjoy these. If you enjoy a V-shaped sound, you will enjoy these. Is the bass predominant? Yes. Is it too much bass? No, not in my opinion. The unsurpassed low ends do not drown out the highs, and the high are not overemphasized. I enjoy deep bass and sparkly, detailed treble. I compare these to the Fostex TH900. They do sound like full-size headphones and have a wide, distinctive soundstage. I have searched years for my go to earbud headphones, even owning Shure's flagship 846s. I prefer the sound of these JVC Ha-Fx850 far more and for about 1/3 of the price. Unlike many earbud headphones, it does not require much juice to drive these. My usual complaint when listening to music on my phone is that the volume doesn't get loud enough. With these, that is no problem whatsoever. I have owned and tries probably over 3 dozen higher-end headphones. These have ended my search.Strongly recommended. Your search may be over as well.UPDATED 7/12/17:I would lower these to 4.5 rating due to the cord. While the cloth covered cord and the cord itself delivers high-quality sound (I compared three other aftermarket cables and the original is by far still the best), the cord, over time, gets synched and warped due to the cloth cover. They should have made this cord rubber or plastic coated. It does make the cord look ridiculous over time.

Comparison to XBA-N3AP
Right out of the box, I could tell these were special. Countless hours of craftmanship is apparent at first glance. These are a work of art at first glance. The build feels very solid and durable compared to my XBA-N3, which feels cheap in comparison. The sound:A note, I do not use professional audio equipment to drive these. I use a FiiO BTR5 with aPTX paired to my Note 10+.The sound of the XBA-N3 was very detailed and clear, with excellent bass response. However, there was something wrong from it. No matter what tips I used, or how deep I inserted them in my ears, I got fatigued after only a few hours. There was a shrillness to highs that was tiring after a while. Now to these- the sound is not only more detailed, the bass is also more powerful, but more precise and controlled. The sound is soft and comforting, non fatiguing. Yet, it has a liveliness to it, a vibrance. Music is for fun, yes? So why not mix fun and accuracy into one package? That's what JVC has done. These never get boring to listen to, they are always exciting while gentle to the ears. There is no shrillness or sibilance. To me, the only edges the N3 has over this is the (slightly) superior isolation and the extension of the treble. The FW01 has lively, beautiful, engaging sound that will bring a smile to your eardrums. For enjoyment of audio, these are the best I've heard.Fit:The N3 was uncomfortable for me. No matter the tips or how they were inserted, my ears started hurting fast. They were always noticeable. Although these are bigger and heavier, they do not hurt my ears. They pop right in and i forget they're there.I doubted my N3 could be surpassed, but they have been.

Not up to the hype
Was looking to buy fx850 for very long time, but after seeing great reviews complementing fw01 decided to jump to the best model. First impression is somewhat negative. No treble. The bass has variety, mids not the best for male voices. These earbuds are not fast enough to play metal or hip-hop. Reproduction of classical music is limited due to a lack in treble department. Here are 3 earbuds I'd recommend, all purchased at lower price: Sony XBA-3, SONY XBA-H3 (these are extremely close in sound signature, but more balanced), RHA-750. Please note that I used only portable devices as music source, iPad, iPhone and Sony MP3 player. Looks like they require some power to drive them, they sound better with iPad Pro. For those who believes in buds burn in period, there's a hope the sound will get better, I played fw01 only for 3 days after taking them out from the box.

各メーカ製品(ue/Fndr./SHURE/RHA/Mnstr./AtmcFld...
B.A. FW01にては、FourMix(純銀を含む4種の線)+W1(CP145の後継)も、とても宜しいと思います。
