Dear Universe: Letters of Affirmation and Empowerment for All of Us

Finally! Messages from a universe I live in
Finally!! I was first introduced to the "new age movement" in the late 1980's, and while I loved many of the ideas and principles, I was horrified by the classism and racism disguised as self-righteous entitlement. Yoko Akili has written a slender volume of meditations on many of these principles and ideas that is an antidote to that entitlement. It is a difficult path he walks, and he does it well.I especially like his Message From The Universe regarding abundance, which reads in part, "In order for us as a world to end economic inequality , we have to do both the inner work in our hearts, and the outer work in our societies. Until prosperity is present in both realities, poverty and lack will always persevere." YES!I wish this were a longer collection, but I am glad he did not wait to publish this until he had a larger collection. These are meditations we need today--there is no time to wait. I look forward to reading more by Akili.

Great message
As a psychotherapist I find this book chalk full of healing empowerment, not the kind of book that spiritually or psychologically bypasses, but some how gently valiantly encourages people to see strengths in their struggles, brilliance in their brokenness. I just love this book and regularly give it to my clients. Just a great short read that leaves you loving your self and at more peace with your experiences.

Wonderful Read!
Like most true classics, this book is a short read numbering just over 50 pages but packs a powerful punch. These epistles, psalms, revelations, gospels, and spiritual letters have added fuel to the phenomenal shift that God has already begun to do in my life and as I read them aloud I felt their power impacting me.

Incredibly thoughtful, insightful, and personal.
This book is everything.Ok, not EVERYTHING, but there are so many relevant topics. I like that I don't have to read it straight through, I can flip open to a page, read a section, and think about it the whole day. I use this sometimes for journaling topics.

A Prayer Book for Racial & Social Justice Activists
American culture needs to transform away from oppression and exploitation and toward compassion and mutuality. This brilliant volume can be the prayer book for individuals and groups looking to make that transformation.

Very inspiring
This is a remarkable, uplifting and inspiring book I've often given as a gift. Although it is quite short, its contents should not be underestimated and I highly recommend it!
