The Family Project: How God's Design Reveals His Best for You
Focus on the Family has created yet another excellent resource that can be easily adapted to fit your family, a small group study, or a church series. It reminds us that we are all fallen, broken, sinful people, but with the help of God we can be healed and proper image bearers for our families and the world. The authors dive deep into how the breakdown of the family can be tied to the sin issues we see in our society such as: poverty, divorce, abuse, drugs, crime etc, and how when we get our families right with God to be proper image-bearers we help conquer these issues within our community by changing the frame work of future generations of families. This book offers so many things: * Statements of Reflection-wonderful, in depth statement to make you ponder the Word, Gods character, how we are living and should live life, community and more are found at the end of each chapter. You can easily focus your prayers around these reflections and spend countless hours discussing them and searching within the Word to find the in-depth truth. * Questions for Consideration-deeply profound questions that will get you thinking about life, consequences, sexuality, Satan, spiritual warfare, roles of fatherhood, motherhood and being a child along with so much more. * Charts, graphs and statistics * Get the Picture-really fantastic links to photos taken throughout the centuries with some background history. My favorite chapter though, admittedly, was My Imperfect Family. The title alone screams out to me. I am an imperfect individual striving for perfection I will never achieve. This small chapter cover how I can improve my current family situations, ways to help create a biblical family (or strengthen the one you have), essential behaviors for parents and kids (praying together, learning each others love language, being involved in your kids world) and learning what your families calling is (make an impact by the way you live life). Wrote is easy to understand terms, this book gives us simply ways to make profound changes within our family that will have an impact generations to come. This book tackles some really tough subjects that frankly alot of others gloss over or leave out. We live in a fallen and broken world and there are certain topics that are uncomfortable to deal with and talk about that our society has deemed appropriate and acceptable. I appreciated the tactful way these topics were handled without glossing over the importance of how they breakdown the family as God has designed it.Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book from Tyndale Publishing in exchange for my honest review which I have given.

The Family Project
“The Family Project” by Glenn T Stanton and Leon C. Wirth is an encouraging book for families. It encourages us to remember that we were made in God’s image and that He loves us so very much. It encourages husbands and wives to stay together, and think of the family as a whole, and not just their own feelings. The authors also encourage mothers and fathers to be role-models for their children, teaching them that no matter if we are male or female, each has his/her important gifts and uniqueness that the other does not have. God made both sexes for a special purpose (other than procreation) and that both are fundamentally important for each other and society.Interesting, too, the authors discuss the financial benefits of marriage, not only to the family, but to the nation, and how the decreasing number of children being born can spell economic challenges if not a disaster. This is a great book for a small group study or other discussion. I also enjoyed the links for classic art that the authors included. I must admit that for some reason, I had a hard time getting into the book, but it was certainly time well spent. Also, if you are looking for politically correctness, go somewhere else. If you are seeking Biblical correctness, this is a worthwhile read.Disclosure of Material Connection: I was provided a free copy of this book by Tyndale House Publishers in exchange for my honest opinion.

Good resource for small groups
"The Family Project" by Glenn T. Stanton and Leon C. Wirth is a companion book to the 12-session small group curriculum created by Focus on the Family. With the idea of family in such disarray and under attack in public arenas, this book brings some clarity, definition, and meaning to "family". The book is divided into four sections which seek to lay a Biblical framework for family and marriage. Each chapter concludes with a reflection statement which sums up the main idea from each chapter, as well as a number of reflection questions for digging deeper into the ideas presented in each chapter.I found this book a little hard to digest on my own, but believe it would be an excellent resource for a small group to go through together. There were a lot of theological ideas presented, which can make for heavier reading at times. The main points were presented clearly and each chapter built well on the previous ones. Overall, this is a good resource for bringing added definition and clarity to what family means.(I’ve received this complimentary book from Tyndale House Publishers in exchange for a review. A positive review was not required and the views expressed in my review are strictly my own.)

Super layman's treatment of the Trinitarian imaging of God through and by the family.
Having been interested in this subject for over 20 years, this is one of the most accessible volumes I've read on the Trinity and imaging of God by the family. The subject can be very complex as one read the theologians but here is a volume that unpacks the beauty, mystery, and practical application in a way that most can understand and appreciate.
