Hmmm……
Not the greatest buy of the year. Didn’t find it easy the slice the loaf and it doesn’t cut the bottom. My hubby wants to bin it but I’ll persevere fora bit longer, maybe there’s a knack…..

Needs large slicing knife
The wood has quite a strong pungent smell when the sealed package is first opened, which permeated my house for a while: it dissipates after a few hours. The multiple slicing thickness mechanism is ingenious: the end stop which blocks the end of the loaf can be dropped into any of the slots, and there are three groups of slots with separations of 13mm, 15mm, and 17mm. You can cut five slices at a time with each separation before you need to remove the slices and reposition your loaf. However the end stop fills its slot whereas the slicing knife sits in the middle of a slot, so the end slice is slightly thinner. The space for your loaf is wider than other slicing guides that I have tried, which is good if you have a wide loaf (I don't). However you need a long slicing knife. The distance between the near side of the near slot (which blocks the knife from going too far in) and the nearside of of the far slot is 16cm. So if you use a standard size 8"/20cm bread knife, you can only use a slicing stroke of 4cm before the knife slips out of the far slot on the pull stroke and may miss the far slot on the push stroke and hit the vertical piece of wood. Repeated blows on one piece of wood will eventually break it, but the construction of the guide allows you to move the end stop to another slot (unlike most other slicing guides). So you need a longer knife to get a decent slicing stroke. I bought a 10"/25cm knife, which allows me a 9cm stroke: a 12"/30cm knife would be better, but these are hard to find.Probably the most important thing about a slicing guide is robustness - how long it lasts. It seems to be more solidly built than the (much cheaper) plastic ones that I have used before, but time will tell. I have not used it for long enough yet. I may update this review on robustness later. Because the end stop can drop into any slot, you can still use it if one vertical piece of wood breaks.

Bread slicer
If you bake your own bread or like me use your local baker this gadget has solved the problem of wedge shaped slices, it’s well made and easy to use. I definitely recommend it

Waste of money
Bought this as tired of plastic slicers wearing quickly, but what a waste of money. The aim is to slice uncut bread so why are you only able to slice within an inch of the bottom of a loaf. Total wast of time.

Not the size described
Too small - the dimensions in the description are not the size of this bread slicer, hence it is too narrow. It is actually 8.5in not 9.3in.

Poor quality, splintered wood.
Unfinished wood which splinters. I found lots of splintered pieces of wood in my bread after cutting (I had been extra careful not to cut the wood) but it seems if you touch it, it will splinter. Very difficult to clean as a result of being unfinished. I don’t think the product is safe especially if you have young children- no one wants to be eating splintered wood for breakfast.
