Laroche is credited with reintroducing color back into fashion?pink, orange, coral, topaz and turquoise were often seen in his creations. A humble and gracious man, Laroche believed in the wearability and practicality of his fashions?in addition to haute couture, he also strived to design everyday clothing and was the first to introduce separates into the American market. 1966 saw the creation of his first menswear line, his first men?s boutique and the introduction of his first women?s perfume, Fidji. Taking its name from the Figi Islands in the South Pacific, Fidji is a sunny and attractive scent with beautiful exotic florals on a bed of woody moss and musky tones.
