Things you need to know about this product before buying
Things you need to know before buying:1. The mat covering doesn't have a "polished" look; in essence, it looks like the top part was printed out by an average printer and glued to the bottom section.2. The pattern on the mat is difficult to discern from the pictures. Think scales -- like scales on a lizard -- and you'll get the idea. (I have the green version.)3. The material on the bottom is smooth (not sticky or rough). This will cause the mat to slide every once in a while when you step on it. Just re-adjust its position and carry on.4. As mentioned in another post, this IS NOT a gel mat. Some friends of ours have a gel mat, and those contour exactly to your feet (think gels that go inside your shoes). THIS mat just provides a soft area to stand on so that your hardwood/tile floors don't cause your back to ache.5. The cushion in this mat does its job: you'll definitely notice a majority of your aches and pains going away as you wash dishes/cook dinner (what I use it for).6. The mat seems to be of solid construction. I've had this mat for about 2 months now, and there appears to be no signs of wear and tear whatsoever. All in all, it's a decent product. The fact that it looks "scaly" and the print job seems average at best (see points #1 and #2) will make me replace this product some time in the future -- purely due to decorative value. For now, however, it does a good "functional" job of alleviating back aches, so I'll use it for a while until we re-do our kitchen.'Hope you found this helpful!

Very comfortable gel mat won't stay in place
I bought this in the 4' length for in front of my kitchen sink area over a year ago. It replaced a beautiful fabric-covered gel comfort mat which was very nice until my dogs decided that it was a great spot to get comfy while gnawing chew toys and bones. The attractiveness of that mat disappeared fairly quickly since it could only be spot cleaned and stains settled into the fabric covering. So, that's why I bought this vinyl covered one, thinking that clean-up would be a breeze. And, as expected, clean-up *is* very easy. Its pebbly-textured vinyl surface resists stains and wipes off easily since the texture doesn't involve any deep recesses.I'm also very pleased with the comfort level when standing on this mat. I've had issues with my knees for the past few years and I bought this one and its prettier predecessor before I had both knees replaced a year ago. The "need" for a comfort mat isn't as critical now as it was before the joint replacement, but it's still nice to have a cushioned area to stand for prolonged periods like when chopping veggies or cleaning up. This mat is very thick and comfortable to stand on; however, the edges are nicely beveled to prevent any tripping over edges. Unlike some others who reviewed this mat, I haven't had any problems whatsoever with the edges curling up. After over a year of regular use, it lays flat and the surface remains in unmarred condition. But now we get to what I REALLY don't like about it. It won't stay put. Not at all. I'm constantly reaching down to move it back into place -- not just occasionally but after every single use. Our kitchen floors are a grid of wide heart pine planks filled with large slate squares. And, unfortunately, these GelPro mats skooch all over slick, hard-surface flooring. I'd bought it in the longer 4' length in order to have it also cover a section of the heart pine that is right between the main kitchen sink and the dishwasher. When in its proper place, the mat is long enough to prevent any dribbled water from hitting the wood plank while loading the dishwasher. And it would protect that wood section perfectly if it didn't keep moving. But after a short period of standing and moving around on it, I'll notice that it's shifted a couple of feet to the left and a foot away from the cabinets. Oddly enough, when I'm intentionally trying to move it back into place or if I just bump the edge with my foot while walking near it, it doesn't slide easily. But there's something about moving and shifting your weight while standing on it, that makes it want to really travel. All in all, it's a nice quality and very comfortable gel mat. It would be perfect if it didn't want to travel across the floor.

Started out great
We purchased two of these mats for our kitchen. For about 6 months, they were great. Then the edges began to curl. By 8 months, the beveled edges had curled up to the point that they were no longer safe. We kept tripping over them. They are now in the trash. I would not recommend these to anyone. They are dangerous.

UDATE: REPLACED! Originals after a year curled up became a hazard.
"I own two of these, in a different color "Toasted Leather Grain", apparently no longer available. Were fine about a year until both started curling up around the edges.... all the way around to lift up about a half-inch. Causes a trip hazard."I was contacted by GelPro customer service who obviously reads the reviews and believes in standing behind their product well after the warranty. They replaced both of my 2 year old mats with new improved ones! Thanks you GelPro! These new ones are a lot nicer, the edges are formed downward so they hug the floor, and there is much less slippage on the floor. Much better! Thanks again!

Save your money
So disappointed - My first NewLife by GelPro Floor Mat ----- was the Leather Grain style – it was thick and luxurious - like standing on a cloud. When I ordered my second mat I needed a lighter color. Unfortunately the Leather Grain did not have a light color. So I ordered a pebble design. Big disappointment, it was much thinner and the material did not seem equal to the Leather Grain. When I compared the backs of both mats the Pebble material looked different and the top finish shiny and cheap with not much cushion.
