Would not recommend - and Peugeot Customer Service is horrible.
I started using it and after a few times, the salt would get all cloggy and not drop, even in the higher setting. I made sure I used the salts that Peugeot recommends (Himalayan salt for example), as this DOES NOT WORK with natural sea salt, as even with the tiniest bit of humidity everything seems to get stuck. After I tried a few tricks and none worked, I contacted Peugeot customer service and that's when the fun began. It took them weeks to respond, and after they did they asked for a video and a photo of the salt I used. I sent everything, and I have not yet received a response - it's been over 4 months... With a few follow-up emails on my end. Nothing. This kind of "customer service" is completely unacceptable, especially for products of this price range. Also, I expected a sturdier construction that is supposed to last a lifetime, but, of course, the bottom part is all plastic. I would not recommend - a cheaper mill does a much better job.

The original salt mill. Well-designed and constructed.
Although Peugeot are now known for their cars and bicycles, historically they were a general engineering company and they came up with the design for the original pepper mill, made famous by Italian restaurants around the world. Most of the ones you can buy are based on the Peugeot design, but aren't as well-made as the originals.Salt mills have to be a bit different from pepper mills as salt grains have a different size and textrue from peppercorns, and are also corrosive. The bottom of this one rotates to adjust the fineness of the ground salt. Unlike most mills it doesn't leave behind a little pile of salt on the table where it has been standing. It is definitely the best one I have used, and the same goes for the matching pepper mill. Although it is a bit expensive, you get what you pay for and I therefore feel it is good value.

Worth every penny
I feel this is the start of a lifelong, beautiful relationship.Perhaps you're wondering whehter you can really justify spending this much on a pepper grinder? My advice: just do it. I've spent decades living with disappointing pepper grinders that cost not much less than this (though they may have been bigger) and either fail after a year or two or never even grind that well to start with. I've had ceramic, metal and plastic mills (the plastic was actually the best). It's really astonishing how much you can spend on a pepper grinder and still get a piece of crap, frankly. But Pergeot have produced a seriously well-engineered mill (as they have been doing since the 19th century!). I love the 6-level grind adjuster on the bottom. And the wood is beautifully finished - feels like silk in the hands. Every use is a pleasure.Ergonomically, it's a tad small - you might want to consider the next size up if your budget stretches to it.Oh yes, and it comes with free peppercorns :)

The best, very easy adjustment, consistent result
A quality item. Functions just as it should. We still have two of the original little dumpies bought in Belgium 40 years ago. Comes with pepper corns inside and it holds a lot of pepper. Like always the top nut needs the ocasional twist. We have for many years used a competitors mill of the same style on which the screw remains tight and the grind adjustment is at the bottom. The Peugeot mill is the better performer.

Appalling packaging!
Bought this for Xmas present for my son who likes to cook when home on leave. So disappointed with packaging - an open ended thin plastic sleeve which wasn’t secured and as a result item was loose in box with other purchases. After reading poor reviews for other pepper mills decided to pay a bit more and buy this higher end product. I would have expected a nice presentation box or at least some bubble wrap and tissue at the very least!Just hope it works..........

Check the sea salt you buy!
It looks lovely and is of good quality, however make sure that you buy the right sea salt. I thought I had but it doesn’t grind any out and I now need to find the right sort of sea salt. I bought Geo Organically Approved Atlantic Sea Salt - not good for this appliance!

Works well and it's guaranteed
Once you've filled it with peppercorns (if not already there) select your personal grind at the bottom and get back to the daily grind. This particular model is just the right size for domestic use. Robust and the machinery has a lifetime guarantee - as I understand it.

Doesn't work anymore
Probably used this a few times since february and it stopped crushing the salt. First thought it might be the type of sea salt I was using, but then after trying so many different types I realised that it's broken! I have prpbably used it only a few times on the dinner table as I have another one for cooking which is SO much cheaper than this one, but does the job for probably for more than 5 years, while this one stopped working after WEEK ONE!
