Damnable Grace: Volume 5 (A Hades Hangmen Novel) Paperback – 13 April 2017

Once again Tillie Cole keeps us captivated and draws us back in to the world of the Hades Hangmen MC in this fifth instalment of the Hades Hangmen series. The books need to be read in order as the story progresses and is full of layers as events from previous books are mentioned. Tillie is really good a incorporating past events into the book to jog your memory as it's been a while since I read deep redemption I was concerned I wouldn't remember characters & events.There was never any doubt in my mind that this was going to be yet another exceptional, gut wrenching, harrowing tale as the MC set out to rescue Lilah's sister Phebe from the evil and depraved clutches of Meister. Tillie's writing is both dark and sensual covering taboo subject such as PTSD, rape, pedophile rings, human trafficking and cult life. This author has a style that just draws you into the world she writes about, you can feel the fear, the anger, the chaos... it's raw, its evil but realistic , you know that this could be happening somewhere near you. It tore my soul apart to think that people could be A. Be this evil and B. Subjected to rape at the age of 8 and being groomed well before then.I loved AKs story, this book is my second favourite in the series, I still love Styx, the hangman mute will always be my number 1. But my heart just went out to both Phebe and AK, they both had a troubled pasts and both were still reliving their hell in their nightmares. They were a comfort for each other as they both battled to overcome the demons from their past. Told from a multiple POVs it was great to hear more from flame as he comes to terms with being a brother.This whole series is so much more than a 5 star read. It's not a book I can binge on because the content is so dark it really gets in to your head and makes you think... I have to keep taking breaks to process. That's not a negative point... when a book makes you feel a whole range of emotions you know the author has got it right and made that connection with their reader.

I can’t not get enough of this series and really loving it.Phebe’s story was heart-wrenching. We hear parts of it in previous books so we know it’s going to be sad, but man this was heartbreaking. Phebe has gone from one hell to another were she is kept drugged and treated awfully much as many other women in this “town”. Because if this Phebe struggles with substance abuse as she becomes clean from the “potion” memory’s slowly return, and there is one she can’t ignore that makes her need to return at any cost.I really loved AK’s story. We see in earlier book the strong morals of family he has with his MC brothers, so in this book it tells and shows us his connection he has with his blood family and why he has the need to help people. AK has never forgotten the girl with red hair and freckles he tied to a tree when they went to new Zion to save Lilah. So when a plan is put in place to find and save Phebe, AK is ready to ensure she is safe at any costs.I loved AK so much and is prob my fave so far (I think I say this about every book) it just is getting better and better. Both story’s are heartbreaking and there love and connection helps them get thought there pasts and become stronger. I love how you get to see more depth of the relationship of the psycho trio. The development of AK and Phebe was done so well with all the obstacles it was kept real and natural. Again I steamed through this and couldn’t put it down, Tillie Cole’s writing just grips you.

This book was raw, gritty, emotional, gut wrenching, heartbreaking, funny and sexy all rolled into one. Addressed detoxing well without glamourising and highlighted how life ruining addiction can be.Also addressed PTSD and the devastating effect it has on soldiers and their families.Great underlying plot, we meet the klan bad guys again, which was harrowing and disturbing in their practices, but incredibly well written.HEA though as love does prevail.

I've slowly but surely been making my way through the stories of The Hades Hangmen for a few months now... i will admit they aren't my favourite of MC reads but something keeps drawing me back into the books wanting to know how the stories go for all the other members and how the cult girls are actually doing.Each book leaves you emotionally drained and feeling like you can't take anymore so I have no idea how Tillie actually managed to write these books!This time we get the story of AK and Phebe both absolutely broken and unbelievably suffering in ways only each other could ever understand.Phebe has suffered at the hands of many of the men while being at the cult... she's done things and saw things that you wouldn't even want to see in your nightmares but she done these things to aid her with her biggest secret.AK is ex marine sniper and is haunted by many things in his past and is holding back secrets of his own.When these two get beside each other its like every other Hades couple... there is just this huge intense draw bringing them closer and closer together until they just can't stay away!Loved getting POV from others in this book too.

This is the book that touched my heart the most out of the whole series. The blame... There was so much blame and pain in their story. Phebe and AK are such a strong characters, beautifully written. This book broke my heart to then put it back together. Even though Flame and Maddie are my favourite couple, this book is one that stays with you forever. To me it was the hardest to read, but so worth it, so be advised if you are too sensitive.

How can you come up with something fresh and new when you have a series that is already 5 books deep and has no ending in sight? Tillie Cole writes dark and haunted so well and the Hades Hangmen and their women are no different. While these books are getting a little repetitive, the stories are always so well told and each character has a darkness that they bring with them that makes us wonder if all this darkness can really exist in this world.AK is the man of the hour in this book and Phebe is the woman that brings his light. AK is the Sergeant at Arms for the Hades Hangmen. And with that he has brought a history which we finally get to dig into. He was a sniper in the military and a very good one at that. But being a sniper in the field brings so many deaths and a darkness that you can't even see coming. And then there is Phebe. Our red-headed siren that has come from the religious cult. She has been raised to reel men in and bring them into the cult. But what happens to her after the cult has been burnt to the ground? This is where the story picks up from the previous books. The storyline follows a similar pattern where our Devil men save the cult girls and they fall in love. It's the story in between that breaks our hearts and puts them back together again."You would not kill me. I deserved to die, but you would not kill me...because you had kind eyes. A devil's man with angel eyes."Honestly a review isn't even necessary. I love these Hangmen and I love their love stories. I love how these women have no clue of the outside world and yet fall in love with the MC members that have such a strong connection with one another. Their hearts and souls call for one another. Need one another. The men are crude, funny, dark and have pasts that unfold for us with each story. And these women bring a light to each relationship. Even if they've been brought up in a very twisted world, they always seem to fight and find the good in everyone."What if we are being held in midnight, AK? Both of us locked in the dark of our pasts. Together. And maybe we must endure the darkness for a while."....."We can chase the sunrise together. We can be the sunrise...together."If you are open to very dark and seeing a world that will wreck you from the inside out, give this series a shot. You have to read the books in order to completely understand the series, but Tillie's writing and knowledge of this dark world is felt with each character portrayed in each book. AK and Phebe held my heart in their hands in this story. And honestly, so did the glimpses of Flame. He will always be a part of each story and he is almost the glue that holds everything together, even if he doesn't know it yet.

Tillie Cole I bow down to you and am currently worshipping at your feet. You have created such an amazing story from book 1 to now. Your characters are so damn real because you make the readers believe they are. I love each and every Hangman, some more than others, and I can't wait for more. Readers will fall head over heels for AK and Phebe and will be perched on the edge of their chairs the entire book. My advice is have some, OK a lot, of tissues ready and for those that indulge a bottle of wine or Jameson either will work. Thank you Tillie for making me ugly cry and almost pee my pants (Viking is a hoot) I can't wait to do it again.
