Excellent quality build. My only request is that the bottom crossbar is turn on end so it lays flat against the floor rather than on edge. As it is designed, it presents a little bit of a trip hazard especially when mounted on a staircase. It may be difficult to re-engineer the design as it definitely creates a structural strength point for the top portions of the gate. The latch works perfectly and is easily opened by adults. Given time, my Belgian Malinois will figure it out and be carousing the upper portion of the house. There's just no stopping that beast!

Im using it at its max width and its still sturdy. Do follow the instruction though. Its easy.

I bought two of these gates, one for my hallway which is around 36 inches, and another one for my 47 inch hallway. The instructions recommend using the extra parts depending on the size of the hallway. I had no trouble installing the gate on the 36 inch hallway. On the other hand, I had trouble putting up the gate in the 47 inch hallway. This is advertised to fit spaces somewhere around 29-48 inches or so, but that was not the case for me. It fit too perfectly, to where the mounts had no room to be adjusted. It was very difficult for me to get it to slide in place without being crooked. I will say I like the durability of it. Works the way it’s supposed to.

I don't write reviews as often as I should, but this gate has really worked out well for us. Our youngest is 11 months and has started crawling everywhere. We needed to gate-off the top of the stairs, which consists of a solid wall on the one side, and a rounded bannister-corner spindle on the other...nothing flat/even about this latter connection point. However, the Y-brackets that come with the gate worked perfectly, and we have a nice, sturdy, snug fit. The swinging gate is terrific and automatically stays open in either 90-degree position when our toddler is not roaming the upstairs area, allowing the rest of the family to pass through the open gate unhindered. The product is made in China...which was a disappointment...but for the rest, we are very happy with it and would recommend it to anyone.

Worked perfect for the bottom of our stairs. Was able to install in minutes.
