A few prog-rock gems, properly transcribed
I bought this mainly for the transcribtions of "Long Distance Runaround", "Roundabout" and "Mood for a Day" (all 3 from the classic Fragile album). "Clap" and "I've Seen All Good People" are OK additions, although not exactly favourites of mine. The rest of the songs in the book represent Yes' more commercial & pop-orientated side, which holds no interest for me whatsoever. The quality of the transcriptions is very good. Many keyboard parts are arranged for guitar, and the tab suggestions are on the whole much better than average. Most of the transcriptions are by some dude named Kenn Chipken, whose work I can only commend.I would've given this 5 stars if the selection of songs had been more interesting.

Yes Guitar Anthology Series (Tab)
I bought this book primarily for transcriptions of the "Clap" and "Mood for a Day". I've been working my way through both tunes and the transcriptions seem fairly accurate. My biggest complaint is the song selection and number of transcriptions. The book simply doesn't cover enough of their vast history. This book could easily have been 250-300 pages with many more songs to play and choose from. Very hard to believe that "Starship Trooper" was not included.

What should have been awesome is a major disapointment.
I remember when the first version of this book was released in the Warner Bros (Secaucus location) company when they used to release annoying "Selections From..." books when they didn't want to pay for a larger full=album book but they wanted to charge top dollar for it.This was supposed to b a selections from the box set that had just been released. Some idiot thought it would be a great idea to include songs that were ONLY IN THE BOX SET "Money" and Montreux's Theme". Taking up that much space to the neglect of inclusion of so many other excellent and popular Yes titles is no better than sabotaging to a long awaited book.(A few of the editorial morons who came up with that idea were fired when the company moved to Florida)Eventually when that book came up for reprint, instead of actually reprinting it, they chose to add it to their newer Guitar Anthology Series which was a great idea and a great opportunity to right the wrongs of the previous book but it was handled by an editor who obviously hates Yes and just wanted to use existing transcriptions without paying for new long songs and declined to include obvious choices that a REAL Yes fan would jump at like "Yours is No Disgrace""Perpetual Change" "Starship Trooper" "Heart of the Sunrise""and You and I" etc.Instead they just changed the cover and added some short Steve Howe solos they already had. Warner Bros didn't want to throw away the crappy songs that they already had paid for or pay for new songs and they could make it significantly larger than other books in that series. They did allow other books in the series to be larger which never made sense to me except that decision makes involved didn't like yes but did like the Cars in this series. They kept it at a round the average price of the series 21.95 and just added the songs from magazines that they had used for the Steve Howe book so that they would have to pay for ANY new arrangement. So to a true Yes fan, it is an expensive waste of money so what does sales conclude? That Yes doesn't sell very well for tablature. If Hal Leonard had the rights to Yes, you can bet they would have a whole series of each of the best yes albums transcribed the same way they released all of the Mahavishnu Orchestra books. Alfred originally include Fragile as their Classic Album series and I hoped they would follow with the other albums but they seemed to drop that idea. The owner's son is actually a Yes fan but he seems to be out-voted by sales and their absurd conclusion that Yes doesn't sell based on their crappy book not selling well.I disagree with a reviewer thinking that the solo guitar songs didn't belong. Hello! It's the Yes GUITAR Anthology and they definitely belong and they didn't jack up the page counts to replace other songs.

So that's Howe they do it...
The songs included in this book: Clap, Hold On, I've Seen All Good People (both parts), Long Distance Runaround, Money, Montreux's Theme, Mood for a Day, Owner of a Lonely Heart, Roundabout, Tempus Fugit.A band like Yes really deserves a series of TAB books, so a slim volume like this (124 pages) can't really hope to satisfy your Yes-enthusiast guitarist. But still, "Money"? And "Montreux's Theme"? Presumably they were picked because they're more guitar-oriented than other Yes tracks, but I can think of many more I'd have preferred to see transcribed here. (And another slight niggle -- the cover of this book shows the Big Generator album cover. Why? Because the contents lists "Hold On" as being on Big Generator. But it was on 90125!)The TAB seems pretty accurate, and nicely detailed (as musical transcriptions of Yes songs would have to be!). I've seen a few transcriptions of Clap, and watched how Steve Howe plays it, and I have to say that, although they've got the notes right here, the actual position Howe plays part of the opening riff is different (he plays it one string down). (It's always worth trying to find a few live videos on YouTube to back up a transcription when learning it, I find.) It's still playable as written, though. The first part of "I've Seen All Good People" has the lute parts arranged for guitar, and "Long Distance Runaround" has the keyboard of the opening section arranged for guitar, too.Overall, it's great to have some Yes transcriptions, I just wish there were more! (Or better selections. I'd love to have had "Don't Kill the Whale" or the whole of "Gates of Delirium"(!) -- both very guitar oriented.) So, excellent music, just a few odd choices.(And a note on the Kindle version: I bought a physical copy of this book because the Kindle sample proved to be nigh-on unreadable. Perhaps it's okay if you're reading it on an iPad or something, but certainly not on a Kindle!)

A present that I know our friend will love. Yes is his favourite band and the variety of songs is great.

Molto interessante
Le trascrizioni per chitarra risultano accurate e complete adatte ad un livello amatoriale evoluto. Non eccezionale la selezione dei brani per quantità e tipologia.Un particolare merito per la consegna avvenuta con un giorno d'anticipo
