Great for home recording and fun.
First off, I'm running the software on an ancient IBM T23 (1.0ghz, 768mb ram) so most of you should be fine with the system requirements.Second, this little thing is great. No latency, and you can hook up any instrument with a 1/4" out to the PC. Remember, this is not recording software (but you can use it with most recording software, including the free ones such as Audacity). Just look for the "Recording Device" and "Playback Device" and set them both to the Toneport if you're using headphones to the headset jack on the Toneport itself (which I recommend).I've used an electric guitar, a condenser mic, an acoustic/electric guitar, and a keyboard through this. My experience is that the included tones are very good, if not excellent, but it's very difficult to make a crappy instrument sound good with them. with a lot of tweaking I got some sounds I liked, but you're not going to get anything ground-breaking, and the effects are obviously digital. So, I mostly use this for recording clean, and it works quite well for that. I'd definitely have gone for a cheaper "recording interface" if I had the option though. If you've got some decent instruments, the tones can serve you very well (just check out youtube)--but you're not gonna make your $150 starter guitar sound high-end.

Amazing unit
This little thing is just amazing. Every capability Line6 described is true and you can spend hours experimenting with new quality tones. Setup was very easy, even though my computer met the minimun requirements. I don't know what latency is because this unit has solve that problem, I really believe that Tone direct monitoring is working great. I've been using it on a daily basis and every day I can create and recreate a lot of tones. If you want to save your money and still sound great, you should give it a try.PD: I'm thinking seriously to sell my amp and get a pro Line6 hardware, they met my expectations.

Don't Buy if you have an AMD turionx2 QuadCore
Not until after three two nights of futzing with the upgrades and terrible on-line support (users are all over the place but actual line6 people only show up sporadically) I never got this working properly.Static pops, low signal input/output.Then, I stumble on a thread FROM A YEAR AGO that suggests HP Pavillion dv7 laptops with the AMD TurionX2 Quad-core processors may experience trouble. There is actually a video and long sheet about getting this GX to work. The short of it, is turning off your sound card and making the GX your sound card. Plus, and here's the funny part, they suggest turning off indexing in your system. Now, NO other company has any special caveats about using their interfaces, especially a usb... plug it in/install driver and go!Not with line6. Evidently, even if your machine is rather higher than their suggested specs, it's more important to carry the exact brand name of processor/sound card and ram.If you have an HP Pavilion d7 or if you're using the AMD TurionX2 Quad-core processor, try something else first.I'll be returning this. The only reason I gave it 2 stars was that inbtween static and pops the sounds in Farm 2 were pretty nice and you get some free software with the purchase, Albeton 7 lite and a looper.

Incredible unit, especially for the price
I got this for my birthday, and I couldnt be happier with it. I own a Line 6 Spider II amp, so I was expecting good tone. What I got though, is incredible tone, with a huge tone library and modeling capabilities. It is easy to set up and install, and the software is great. You can create and save your own models, load audio tracks to jam along with and record, access the huge online tone and track library - which you can select playback of the full mix of a song, or remove an insrument or two to jam with. The tone and modeling makes this product worth it, and the extra capabilities are just gravy. For $70, it is an absolute steal, Id expect to pay at least twice that.

Undisputed Value Champ
Well the fact that its an insane buy is pretty much clear from the other reviews. I'd just add my two pence to the technical aspects. This baby is now compatible with Vista 64 bit and the drivers are all available on the line6 support site. It has a head phone/line-out jack and hence you can further connect your device to other sound systems. The number of tones that come with the package software are ample in my opinion. But many have said that the extra tones which is for sale in the model pack is well worth for more interested buyers.[...]

as good as advertise!
obviously , they are not gonna tell you the bad things about a prodcut, only the good ones, in this case, the good ones are true, you can do all that is advertise here, with not that much of a computer demand, it's usb so it always have latency, ( a little delay since you play until you hear the procesed sound ) , but it's really really short, so... for practice, Jamming with you favorite mp3, or youtube video, it's great, the effects on it, are OK some really nice, and otherones kind of flat and cheap, if you can aford more, go for the guitar rig!I have the UX2 TONEPORT of line 6 and have serve me very while in a year and a half.

Vista compatible -- But watch the wiring
It works well with Vista, and the interface is great. Lots of variety in selecting sounds, guitars and amps. It's truly hot. But while I can manage the box via USB, I can't get sound out of it the same way. I had to plug the box directly into the sound card through a mike port. It's a bit primative and the sound is analog, not digital. Also, you have to watch the volume or you could fry the sound card by putting too much electricity through the mike port. I recommend the product, but be aware that you may have to manage the box via USB and get sound by running a cord between the headphone port on the box and the mike port on your computer.
