The Philips HDTP8530 features a twin tuner and a 500GB capacity
hard drive. This allows you to watch one channel while you record
another, record two separate channels at the same time, or even
record two channels whilst watching a programme that you recorded
earlier. The 500GB hard drive gives you the capacity to record up
to 300 hours of content, which will allow you to build up a great
library of movies, drama and whatever content you like.
Record an entire series at the touch of a button

There's no need to risk missing an episode of your favourite
programme while you're out, as the series link function allows
you to quickly and simply record an entire series of any
programme without having to worry about what times each episode
is broadcast. The smart tuner will even help you out by looking
for repeated programmes, so if you accidentally try to record
three things at the same time, it will try to find an alternative
broadcast for you at a later date and suggest that as an option
to record.
In order to make sure you are getting the most out of your
Philips HDP8530, the electronic programme guide will even suggest
things that you may wish to record, so if you record a crime
drama, it may suggest a similar programme in the same genre that
you might not have been aware of. What a great way to discover

files and add them to your personal library on the Philips
HDTP8530. You can display slide shows of all your favourite

sound system if you have one. And that's not all! The Philips
HDTP8530 is DLNA compatible, so you can establish a home network
with other DLNA compatible devices to easily access media files
from a PC or Media Server around the home. Now everyone can enjoy

TV on demand and Catch Up TV from BBC iPlayer

Even with 500GB of storage, series link, smart and
automatic recommendations, you may still discover that you've
missed something you wanted to see. Now, with the addition of BBC
iPlayer, you can see a wide selection of BBC content broadcast
over the last 7 days or so simply by accessing the iPlayer
function. You can then choose from a wide range of BBC content
without having needed to record it or set a reminder, another
feature that helps you to simply personalise your TV viewing
experience. To access the BBC iPlayer, simply connect your
Philips HDTP to your broadband connection either directly into
your router or via a home plug network extender. A minimum
broadband speed of 2MB is recommended.

The Philips HDTP has been designed to fit in with your other
audio visual equipment. The sleek, minimalist fascia panel
features a gloss black finish and a subtle blue LED channel
display to avoid distracting you from the on-screen action.
Measuring only 34cm wide and less than 10cm tall, it fits into
spaces that other Freeview+ HD recorders can't, allowing you
plenty of space for your other home entertainment equipment. The
advanced technologies used in this product allow the weight to be
kept down to less than 1kg, so there should be plenty of places
for it to be safely located. The same emphasis on style and ease
of use has been applied to the design of the remote control.
Rather than cluttering up the remote with loads of buttons that
rarely get used, the Philips HDTP8530 keeps the remote buttons to
a minimum, with the majority of the features being accessed via
the large, clear on-screen graphics instead. The most commonly
used controls are in the centre of the remote control allowing
simple thumb control, and each large, raised button has a
positive click feel when pressed, so that you know you have
selected it.
