Put to the test, Turned out on Top for comfort
I just walked about 8 miles a day, for a month, with problem feet, on a trip to Japan in these. Up and down stairs, standing all day, on the subway, in the city, in small towns, over rocks, wet streets, on somewhat muddy hiking trails up mountains. I brought two other pairs of cute, comfy shoes with good arch support, after trying all the good, expensive brands, but this pair of sandals was sooo much more comfy at the end of the day, that I wore the others only a few times (when I chose my water friendly pair for real down-pour days.) These keep you high enough above the water that some rain is fine. They might even do o.k. getting soaked, but I didn't want to chance getting them too soggy. The other shoes I had are comfy on a normal day of "on your feet all day," and blow most shoes out of the water, while these Aetrex surpassed even those, and are comfy at the end of an '8 miles of walking/hiking plus standing from early in the morning till bed-time' day. They are amazing. If you are going on a trip, buy them. You won't regret it.Go with your shoe size, not sandal size. These are perfect in my normal size...7.5. Most shoes I wear 7.5. I often wear 7 in sandals, but the 7.5 in this brand puts the excellent arch support just where it needs to be. The smaller sizes in this sandal put the arch too far back, even though they seemed long in the toe. I was worried the 7.5 would be ridiculously long on the toe, but it wasn't. The 7.5 looks & feels good, length wise (even though it was going up in size...in fact, it looks more normal on my foot). I was also worried the bigger size would be too wide at the straps. Trust me, even if a smaller size seems like it is fitting too long in the toes, or too wide at the straps, try your normal shoe size. It positions your foot in the right spot, and all the sudden everything fits right. (At least in my experience.)I usually have to put orthotic inserts in my shoes because I need high arch support and am a bit of an overpronator. These sandals were amazing. Cushy, but supportive underneath the cushioning. My one complaint is that my feet did get smelly wearing them, but it was worth spraying them down with rubbing alcohol and washing my feet as soon as I got home every night. I don't normally have a problem with stinky feet. If there was any way for them to keep the comfort, but make them a little less prone to smelly-ness, that would be great. I couldn't notice the smell until I took them off, so it wasn't a huge deal, except for when you went to a traditional Japanese restaurant where you remove your shoes. Not so fun then. Trying to discreetly spray your feet with hand sanitizer. >.< Haha, I can laugh about it now. I purposely wore different shoes on days I knew I would be somewhere I would take off my shoes, which was only once, really. If Aetrex improves the smelliness, I would be more prone to wear these all the time in my day-to-day life, where I am not being quite so hard on my feet, and my desire not to have stinky feet leads me to choose not-quite-as-comfy, but adequately comfy and non-smelly shoes. In the stone color, these are super cute and went with everything. Some of the Aetrex sandals that have metallic coloring painted on the leather, like the Lori style bronze color, looked tacky or cheap to me when I saw them in person, but these looked great. After my experience, I will be looking to buy more Aetrex. That sort of foot comfort is worth a lot, especially if they can make ones as cute and versatile as the stone colored ones of this style.P.S. I noticed people say they have a 1" rise to the heel. I guess that's true, but I am surprised, because usually I have a hard time with any rise, and these felt better than my best sneakers with orthotic inserts. Even on my previously broken, sensitive foot. Don't pass them by because of that.

I have a new favorite pair of footwear!
I was going to go on vacation and we do a lot of walking (6-8miles a day). With my Plantar Fasciitis ready to jump in and put a wrench in our plans at any time, I was so very happy to find out there are sandals that are not only orthopedic, but look good. I was dreading having to slog around Italy in 100 degree weather wearing shoes and socks and was so happy to find these. I wore them for several weeks at work and they worked grand. I'm happy to say that they passed the vacation test with flying colours. also love the fact both straps are velcro. My feet can swell in hot weather or after much walking, so being able to loosen the straps to avoid blisters was quite handy. They were still comfortable even after 10 miles of museums and site seeing

These sandals were extremely comfortable, but the fit was a bit large all ...
These sandals were extremely comfortable, but the fit was a bit large all around. I am a true size 8 in most shoes, but the 8 on these sandals fit more like a 9. Definitely order a size down from your normal size.**UPDATE: Guess I should have read the return policy more closely, but Gierk shoes does not offer free returns. Cost me $12 to ship them back because they were too large. The ability to return shoes that do not fit is very important to me because..who wants to keep an expensive pair of shoes that don't fit? I will not be ordering from Gierk shoes again.

it doesn't get any better!
I would give these Aetrex shoes 10 stars if I could. These look great on, have fantastic support throughout the shoe - even the arches. I have extremely high arches and this brand has been wonderful for arch support. I also have the black in this shoe, but paid more for that pair directly from the company. However, it is a statement about the Aetrex company that if you order directly from Aetrex, they allow you to actually WEAR the shoes for up to 30 days from date of purchase and if not satisfied you can return them. They even pay for the return. The shoes are not cheap by any means, but the company stands behind them and I think they're worth every penny and then some. I was thrilled to get this color from Amazon for a great price. They fit well, maybe a tad bigger than some brands. I wear a 10 M in most shoes, but in these I wear a 9.5 M. The forefoot strap is adjustable as is the ankle strap, giving you a more custom fit.

The best sandals ever
I bought a pair of these in black10 months ago in DC at Comfort shoes on recommendation of salesman. They were awesome, I have problems with my feet from my RA, these are the only shoes I can wear for hours, hence my second purchase, have worn my new ones just once so far but they feel perfect. None of the other Aetrex models are quite as good for me.

I <3 these shoes!
This is my 2nd pair of Aetrex sandals, and I plan to buy more of this brand. The brand seems to be just the right width for my slightly-wide foot.My foot is wide across my sole, BUT isn't really wide enough to feel comfortable in "wide" shoes. They slip around too much. When I buy regular width in most sandals and flip flops, the outside of my foot (near my little toe) is usually right up against the edge or hanging off a little. These sandals fit perfectly, and so I clicked "somewhat wide" in my review.I can wear them all day... in fact, I just spent a week in NYC. I wore them two full days. One day, I walked from lower Manhattan up to 47th, and multiple subway stops (tons of stairs). My feet were not tired one bit at the end of the day. My legs felt great and I had no "hot spots" on my feet.
