Great product, but I got a used one
First the good. This is a heavy duty stud mount that will fit through a standard 3/8" hole just like a regular stud mount. The plastic washer/insulator is oversized to help spread out weight, but protruding portion of it that is supposed to stick into the hole in your mount is still 3/8", so you don't have to buy any special brackets or drill a larger hole for this to fit. The female SO-239 connector on bottom is keyed for an allen wrench that comes included with the product so that when paired with a wrench on the top portion, can be used to really crank down on and tighten the stud to make sure it doesn't work loose. It did not come with a locking washer of any kind, but seeing as how tight I should be able to get this, that shouldn't be a problem.All that being said, the unit appeared used upon arrival. Mine was shipped from "Advanced Specialities Inc." There was some obvious cosmetic damage and dirt on the outside of the unit (not just dust, actual dirt that I had to pick off with my fingernail), the plastic insulator is a little faded and dirty and there's all sorts of dings on the exterior of the metal. Functionally it's just fine and will do what I wanted it to do; I tested it with my multimeter and there's no short between the center conductor and shield, and there's no damage so severe that it would affect the durability or intended purpose of the product, and I plan on cleaning it off with some high concentration rubbing alcohol and putting it together with some dielectric grease to keep water out, but it appears as if the unit was taken out, used, returned, re-sealed and re-sold. Some of the marks are machining marks where the flat sides of the upper portion was cut for a wrench to fit, but there's several user inflicted wear marks as well. I'm not sure if this was the fault of Advanced Specialties Inc. or ProComm since the unit was in a sealed plastic baggie upon arrival.For the price that I paid, I can't really complain. The product itself is outstanding and in the time I've been using it hasn't offered to flex the slightest bit where standard studs would flex the metal on the bed of my truck. Combined with a 6 inch spring it does a great job of giving a solid foundation to my 102 inch whip. However, it's a little bit dis-heartening to order something and get a used/refurbished version when you were expecting a brand new one.

Super heavy duty
Super heavy duty. I have been running one on my truck for a year. And I haven't had a problem. This antenna mount Lug works great.

Excellent plus+++
I hesitate to post any comments about this little antenna mount, simply because its so great and the costs will surely skyrocket once the word gets out. This thing is a PREMIUM CB antenna mount that once installed will probably outlive the vehicle it's installed on.Well designed and fabricated. I've had mounts in the past that would become worn and lose after a number of years and require replacement. This unit is the answer....it is solid machined stainless steel, engineered to provide a more rigid base attachment and if properly installed won't become lose or worn. I've had antennas stolen in the past, along with the mounts, so I decided I was going to red lock tight this unit. Once installed it's not going anywhere, the cable attachment can easily be removed as well as the antenna...but the mount's not going anywhere. BRAVO for someone who has had past experience with those two piece skinny-weeble-wobble units and come up with an excellent design and well built mount!

The idea is genius, but the design is poor.
I really like that it's stainless steel and cheap, but I won't use it. The electrical connection to the vehicle's body relies on a smooth surface, with no "teeth" to cut into the steel. The center receptacle of the SO-239 connector is not a receptacle at all. No tight grip to ensure a sound connection. I like RF connections to be exceptional. This won't accomplish that. Considering the radiation resistance of a 1/4 wave whip is low, and shorter/loaded whips even lower, any additional resistance lowers the antenna's efficiency. I'll keep looking for something better before I drill a hole in my car's roof.

Super heavy duty antenna stud
This stud has about three time the mass verses the other stud. I am mounting my 102" whip on it. For those complaining it didn't work for them there is a great YT video showing what you might have done wrong and the correct way to use this stud. Highly recommended.

It's very sturdy and well built, but...
As others have noted this is a very stout antenna mount for any antenna requiring a 3/8"-24 thread mounting. The problem with this mount is in regard to its SO-239 connector design where the contact for the center pin provides only for contact with the tip of the pin and does not engage the sides of the pin with spring loaded beams as actual connectors do. Depending on your specific PL-259 male connector its center pin may or not make contact with this antenna mount connection. I have attached two photos to explain, one shows a typical SO-239 with gold plated spring loaded contact beams that contact the sides of the PL-259 male connector pin. The other photo shows the solid bore hole of the the antenna mount connector that only engages the tip of a PL-259 connector. The other minor issue for this connector is it's lack of saw tooth ring that engages anti-rotation teeth on a standard PL-259 male connector. For my application and conventional PL-259 connectors it will work, but buyer beware.

Good mount but only for thicker metal.
Very good and sturdy mount, but be careful not to torque it way too much like how I did it else the coaxial center conductor won't make proper contact. I fixed that issue by placing a small spring inside and then checked the resistance with a multimeter to ensure a good connection. I mounted this in my roof and it does flex a lot with the 102" SS whip on it due to being relatively skinny, but overall is very heavy duty and works great. Make sure to sand off all paint where the bottom side (coax threads) meet the metal, or else swr will be terrible. My antenna swr however is 1.0!
