This stuff is a must have, but not for morons
The media could not be loaded. Before I bought this kit I read a ton of reviews. I have a Blaze stainless steel griddle. I have never cooked on a griddle before, I have never worked in the food and beverage industry either so I was a complete novice when it came to using such a device. I learn fast and here is what I have figured out. One, you need to know your equipment. Two, you need to know the temperature of said equipment. Three know how to use the product correctly. There are many reviews of this product that simply aren't reflective of the product and highlight the fact they don't know how to use it and their own equipment correctly. I assume they are using a laser thermometer in most cases.Alright here is the details. The griddle is 304 stainless steel. You cannot get an accurate temperature from a laser thermometer, the reason is emissivity. This is the measurement of an objects ability to emit infrared energy. A shiny object has a lower emissivity than a black object. Most infrared thermometers are set at 95, 304 stainless is 41-45 You can buy laser thermometers that have adjustable emissivity, which I did from Thermoworks but even then I found that they still won't be accurate because as stainless steel heats up it changes color slightly which then will effect the accuracy of the thermometer. You can change the emissivity as it changes color but I found this wouldn't be very accurate either. Long and short don't use infrared laser thermometers on a griddle. Use a surface thermometer such as the Thermoworks Pro-surface Thermapen. It will accurately tell you the temp of the surface instantly. Changes everything when you know what you're cooking at. Oh, and when you want to use this stuff. With the griddle at the right temperature you can clean the griddle to like new condition in less that 5 minutes. I know they say three but there is a little more clean up than just using this product. It takes care of the majority of the work then I finish with water mixed with a dash of white vinegar and it is spotless. I made a video for my cousin with one hand cleaning it and one operating my phone, showing what this stuff does because he had just installed a griddle in his outdoor kitchen as well and hadn't used it as of yet. I knew from my experiences he would appreciate this stuff. It used to take me about an hour to clean the surface of the griddle to like new before this product. So it is a real game changer, it makes me want to use the griddle so much more now that I don't even think about using the grill very often. If you are going to use a griddle, at least a stainless steel griddle that is, be sure to have this on hand, it will make clean up a snap.

What you would expect from a quality company like 3M
The kit is complete with pads, cleaner, and tools to get the job done. Follow the instructions, add a little elbow grease and you will be presented with a clean grill. The kit is what you would expect from a quality company like 3M!

Works great, just be smart
This is two hour project minimum. The directions are great, it has everything you need, and the result is spectacular, my griddle look almost new. BUT the cleaning solution feels somewhat toxic. Maximize your VENTILATION. Wear a mask. Wear gloves. Wear glasses. The clean-up is somewhat gnarly also. If you have a removable grease trap, WRAP IT IN TIN FOIL before you heat up your griddle! You can just remove the tin foil and dispose of it when finished. I used this on a Wolf range griddle. I left the spent cleaning solution in the grease trap over night (to cool), and it was more like sap than a liquid in the morning. Even after heating, it was very difficult to remove. I may replace the grease trap. Between the corrosion of the fluid and a nylon scrubber (to remove it), I damaged the black finish. Hope that helps somebody!

At the correct temperature this stuff is great!
The stainless grill in the kitchen of our Church had not been cleaned for years. There was thick coat of burnt/varnished/food in the middle that we couldn’t get off, so we cooked on the sides and didn’t use the middle. I purchased this kit hoping to finally get the entire griddle clean and usable again. The instructions said for heavily soiled surfaces you may need to clean it more than once. I did have to use multiple packets, but in the end the whole surface looks evenly clean, no more gunk in the middle! Some tips – Make sure the temperature of the griddle is hot (300-350F – 350F is the max for the pads, so I tried to hit around 310-320F) BUT NOT TOO HOT. As you can see in some of the reviews here, if you let the surface get too hot then you will get bad results. How can you tell the temperature of your griddle? DON’T RELY ON THE TEMPERATURE KNOBS ON YOUR GRILL. You really need use a flat surface/grill surface temperature probe. The infrared things are only close, and you really can’t trust the knobs on the griddle, so if you’re going to use this product you need to invest in a surface temperature thermometer. After cleaning, I wiped the surface with a wet rag, used a pumice block to finish things off, then then re-seasoned the surface. I'll be trying out the whole griddle this weekend!2/14/20 Update: I’ve used this system a number of times now, and it’s still great. When I clean the griddle I have a number of people watch to see how well it cleans. Last week someone stopped by after I cleaned it and asked how it got so clean (they never saw it that clean before).Again, the temperature is very important. If your griddle is about 400 or hotter then the pad will start to melt and disintegrate. Read some of the reviews of from others where their pad and squeegee melted – their griddle was way too hot. You have to accurately check the temperature of your griddle. How do you know how hot your griddle is? Don’t trust the knobs! To get 320F on my griddle I had to set the three burners knobs to 110F, off, and 220F. You need to use a good surface thermometer. Don’t use an infrared thermometer. Mine was off by 100F!So, get a good surface temperature probe, measure all around it until you get all spots in a range of 320-340F, then apply the use the product and get a great looking griddle.

Pricy but worth it.
I tried a lot of cleaning products and nothing made much of a difference, even with a lot of elbow geese. This product worked amazingly well. There are a few good videos of people cleaning their griddles with it that you can find. Those sold me.I did the whole process twice over, with 2 scrubbers, but it worked well after the first. The fumes were an odd smell. I opened windows and a door to help air it out. Its pricy for a cleaner but worth it for the results.
